Main Story for the Episode:
I was a cop for 15 years in north Philly (retired)
Get a call one night around 3-4am for a person with a weapon/male unresponsive on loc. . It was about 10 years ago so the details are a bit fuzzy but I’ll never forget the utter shit show I walked into
Upon arrive my partner and I were met by a woman crying and clearly very shaken up speaking Spanish . neither myself or my partner were able to understand exactly what was going on but As we entered the home the woman pointed to the stairway and quickly exited the home barley able to hold herself together.
approaching the stairs i could hear a male voice that sounded muffled yet forceful coming from the back bedroom.. it wasn’t English or Spanish And the cadence was off putting .I settle on the landing for about 10 seconds attempting to gather whatever information I can before we climb the last flight of stairs to the dimly lit second floor ..as i approach the landing I see over the top step about 20 feet away a man’s severed head at the center of a large shoddily drawn circle no crazy markings .. no pentagrams . Just a trail of blood leading from the head to the bathroom and the same man’s voice reciting who the fuck knows ..
The man exits the room puts his hands up turns around and lays on his stomach he was arrested without incident . After the apprehension we check the crime scene to make sure it’s safe for the techs to process . As I entered the bathroom I saw the man’s headless torso face up in the bathtub .. he actually had a pair of really nice Jordan4’s on but that’s beside the point .
I don’t usually follow up on cases untill I get subpoenaed for court but this one I did . Perhaps the strangest part of this strange experience was that the man who committed the murder … never arrested , worked full time , was a former youth minister and had no history of mental illness and a clean toxicology… not even a beer in his system and was declared fit for trial by 4 dr’s 2 were independent
Fast forward 13 months and his trial is starting ..as I get called to testify I enter the courtroom and the moment I put my hand on the Bible to swear in … he begins reciting that Hymn .. the same one from that night .
Weirdest fucking thing I’ve seen in 15 years working in one of the most volatile areas in the country .. that wasn’t the reason I left the police department … but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t help me out the door .

- OP says this call was “about 10 years ago,” placing this story APPROXIMATELY around 2013 – give or take a few years based on OP’s recollection of the event
- Follow-up comment by OP: “I did see it on the news that night but it was just a quick shot of the house roped off and a blurb. Unfortunately we hit 350+ homicides easily every year (that gets properly coded) so add another 80-100.. unless it’s a mass shooting or a slow day they only really cover 1-2 murders on the news .. hahah sad .. but true”
- 2013 2014 homicide “bathtub” “severed head” “philadelphia” no prior arrest record “youth” minister
Move to NEW Story
I’m now retired but I used to be a Policeman, at one stage I worked in the East side of Newcastle upon Tyne. I was on night duty (10pm till 6 am) one summer night in 1991, when about 3 am my partner and I got a radio call to attend an alarm being activated at a local social club, the radio operator said he’d telephoned the key holder who would meet us at the scene. This happened, and he opened the locked up building, on entering he looked at the alarm panel and reported the alarm was activated in the downstairs gents toilet (bathroom or restroom) we entered the main hallway, the gents toilet door was facing us, just then it went VERY COLD, this was midsummer and we’re in shirtsleeves, at that point a man, about 5’ 6” in height ( my wife is 5’6” ), he was dressed in a black tuxedo with a black bow tie, his hairstyle reminded me of the 1940s - 50s, he was looking straight in front of him, we were standing to his right side, he never looked at us, not once, just walked forward about three paces, I suddenly remembered why we were there and I quickly moved forward to apprehend him, as I put my hand on his right shoulder, he just faded away, he completely disappeared in front of the three of us.
We were left standing there, shocked, and confused, we couldn’t explain what we’d just witnessed. The key holder finally said “That was a ghost, we’ve just seen a f*****g ghost haven’t we?”
We quickly looked around and finding nothing else we locked up again. We reported it as a fault on the system, we knew that we’d be totally ridiculed by our colleagues on the shift.
We didn’t even record it in our pocket note books as we were supposed to.
My partner and I have not spoken about it ever. The key holder, who by day worked as a barman in that club, resigned the next day and never returned. The building was demolished in 1996, it no longer exists. But I can’t help but wonder if that spirit still walks that area. Three grown, sober, and serious men, two of us professional police officers saw and felt this, it’s a perfectly true story, I swear by all that’s holy. I later reported the story in a force magazine that was looking for stories from past officers, I was later contacted by another retired Policeman who retired years before me. He told me that the MC at that club always wore a tuxedo back in the day and one of them died of a heart attack in the gents toilet, he actually did the sudden death (coroner’s) report. This is all true. I forgot to mention that this’figure’ we saw looked perfectly real and solid when seen by us, he wasn’t transparent or shimmering, nothing like that. I did get a name from the old sergeant that dealt with the sudden death, I will not mention it, I believe there are still living relatives in the area, and the past is the past, let sleeping dogs lie.

Just about every cop in my hometown would disagree with you lol. Very historic town, lots of weird shit happening.
One of the stories I’ve been told was about an old mansion that’s basically a museum now and has a night guard. They get called to a burglar alarm, guard has secured the entrance and nobody has left. They clear this whole creepy ass mansion and find one closet door (maintenance or some other utility closet) that’s locked. The alarm company has contacted them and confirmed that there is a keypad for the alarm in this closet, and that there was a false entry on the keypad, meaning someone actually put in the wrong codes. As you may have guessed, they opened the closet and nobody was there despite the whole building having been systematically cleared and nobody having entered or exited (and the door having remained locked)
Another fun one is how an officer mentioned that going into a spot in the Walmart at night would usually result in him finding his radio off or on the wrong channel. That Walmart is no longer 24 hour, and the specific area he was in was the site of an orphanage in which every single child was killed in a hurricane.
We have the typical false alarm calls in my town, but one location consistently gets interior motion detection alarms. This is probably the weakest story I have, but the school has long been said to be haunted by just about every student that’s gone there, it has a graveyard (it’s a church school), and has historically been a nunnery I believe.
There are tons more that I just can’t think of right now. Each of these stories was told to me by a different officer and separately corroborated by another officer, I just remember them so well because multiple people felt they were worth sharing.
I’m on the fence about believing in the paranormal, but it does seem like some trippy shit happens.

There was an incident from my hometown that made national news & it made believers out of many. A young Mom & her infant were driving home from a friend's house at night when she crashed her car, which ended upside down in a river. The following day, a fisherman saw the car and called emergency personnel. When law enforcement officials went down the embankment to the crash site, 4 different officers heard a distinct voice calling, "Help me, help me." Hearing the voice caused them to work frantically & to flip the car over & found the 18 month old baby alive, strapped in her carseat hanging upside down. Based on LEA reports, it is estimated that the car had crashed 14 hours before. I still get chills when I pass the crash site.
Edit: The mother died almost instantly from injuries sustained in the crash. Rescuers had no idea where the voice was coming from.
Notes:
This is a somewhat well-known story but is very compelling, could be good for the intro

This isn’t from the streets, but I was a corrections officer at a 112 year old prison. I would have a control post every Sunday night from 4p-12a. At nine pm every Sunday there would be an inmate in visitation sitting there on camera. I knew for a fact there was nobody up there, because by 4:30 officers cleared out the entire floor room by room and locked up. Also on overnight shift, in one unit I would have someone come up to my office window and look in. This is after counting, ensuring all doors were locked and the entrance to my unit being locked. And it was a different person each time.

- Follow-up comment: There was some hinky shit going down at that prison. It was built by the inmates and supposedly a bunch of them died there, some tried to escape and were hanged on site. Supposedly made for some bad juju.
I have a family member who's law enforcement. They said they get calls where the "caller" hangs up when the phone is answered, so they go out to the address but it's an address where the house burned down or where a tragedy happened and no one lives there anymore. And apparently it happens often.
Not paranormal but apparently sometimes people commit suicide and the family will come to the site and they just talk about wanting an inheritance and not even caring that a family member committed suicide.

No comment on the first part..... But the second part of your post happens with murders as well. In 2015 my sister was shot to death by her husband, in my town the police only take the body and pertinent evidence, the city does not pay for clean up if it happens on private property and we couldn't afford $4500 to pay a service. So while cleaning up not only all the crap in the house, but also a blood and gore spattered laundry room, i had to deal with her kid's (ones that were exerting no effort to help mind you,OR expressing anything like grief) demand "sentimental" (and expensive) belongings, money etc., AND the murderers family making similar demands, AND the tweaker roommate demanding the same things. I let her oldest (who was actually helping) claim a couch and random bits,i took a TV stand, love seat,a nice cookware set, family photos, and her angel necklace which now adorns my biker jacket (where most small sentimental objects end up) I also claimed his knife collection. We sold anything of value to pay expenses, burned everything he owned on his BBQ then smashed it,and when we finally let his rather belligerent family take his truck we'd stuffed the linoleum and paneling we had to tear out of the laundry room, plus the ashes of his belongings in the cab and broke the locks, it was august so i'm sure they enjoyed that. Were we asholes? yeah, but i feel justified, if anyone disagrees i don't care.
Sorry, got triggered,and had to
post is already long but yes there was a paranormal aspect i believe, so yeah i feel this belongs here, someone remind me later and i'll write that up
This was 3 years ago. I was a police officer in a small town for a short time and two weeks after I started I was called by my chief and told there was a dead body and that would be good training. I ran home changed into my 30 lbs of gear and headed over to the scene. I pulled up and my chief walked me around to the back of the house. We could see a foot motionless in the hallway. Ran around to the front and drilled out the lock and immediately could smell death. Went inside and saw him laying on the floor. He had been there for a month. After opening all the windows and me dry heaving a bit we waited for the the coroner to show up and remove him. After we searched the home for guns, drugs and anything illegal/legal that needed to be removed. I was in the basement searching through some boxes and out of the corner of my eye I could see the holo black shape of a person blocking out the sunlight coming in through the window. It looked like they were turned to the side looking over there right shoulder. As I turned to talk thinking it was chief they disappeared in front of me. I said “ nope” and left the house finding the chief outside waiting for me. I never told anyone I worked with for fear of having to retake my physiological test or be stair up fired.
